Dr. John Bell
DDS, General Dentist
Dr. Bell graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK with a double BS degree in Zoology and Chemistry. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in Oklahoma City, OK with a Doctor of Dental Surgery, DDS.
Dr Bell developed his dexterity with his hands by jewelry making in casting gold, silversmithing, setting gemstones and hammered copper sculptures. These were original designs and not instructional copies. What the mind imagines the hands must create. Dr. Bell observed in his father's small town Oklahoma dental practice before college and dental school. This provided an insightful and unique experience into dentistry and patient satisfaction for a small, frugal, close-knit community. The patient was not just a neighbor but a friend.
The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry strongly stressed practical clinical, actual hands on, dental skills with patients. This provided a very competent base to excel into more difficult dentistry with success. Dr. Bell has seen thousands of patients to restore damaged or missing teeth. Not one patient or dental problem is the same, but a new friend to see and a new smile to make. This requires knowledge, wisdom, and lots of continuing dental education. While there are in-person classes that are necessary, the vast credentialed education online makes finding precious pearls for that one particular needful patient, fulfilling. The hours beyond state requirements are easily exceeded in embarrassing vast amounts for tooth restorations, extractions, implants, full/partial dentures, medications, complicating illnesses, infection control, and smile aesthetics. This also makes way for asking questions of colleagues to tap their experience and to share experiences to provide patient best care.
Dr Bell is a fourth generation dentist completing the journey to Texas that his great grandfather started in a covered wagon from Tennessee. Dr Bell prefers to live in a small Texas city with his wife, Sherry and their two sons. They do make it back to Oklahoma for OU football home games in Norman and favorite restaurants in OKC. Dr Bell is especially fond of Creole and Cajun foods. His family likes beach vacations especially in Destin, FL with white sands and the seafood restaurants. Dr Bell's favorite food is still a good Texas steak on very special occasions.
